Our Next Steps

BEFORE STATE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE:

Throughout the rest of the year and the next year, we hope to grow and expand the club more, promoting physical and mental health.

- We plan on turning Mind and Unwind into a club at our school. We are already in touch with an advisor to make this club possible. Having a club allows us to gain a bigger outreach and focus on our target audience, which is teenagers.

- After we held a successful bake sale raising $150+ for NAMI, we plan on hosting more fundraisers to donate to NAMI and many other similar organizations.

- Sources of Strength is a youth mental health promotion and suicide prevention program designed to harness the power of peer social networks. We plan to collaborate with our school’s chapter as Mind and Unwind, and Sources of Strength have similar goals. We are already in contact with the advisors of the organization and hope to have an event with them later in the year.

- Through our platform, we would also like to promote more self-affirmation to make a direct and positive impact on our community. We have ideas to create a cinematic film and short mental health vlogs that can easily be executed.

- As our pickleball event was a huge success, we plan to hold more socials and promote physical wellness. We plan to host a yoga event soon and a more inclusive pickleball event.

- We also plan to reach out to local hospitals to host events with them. We plan to make gifts to patients hoping to brighten their day. We hope our dedication to this project is clear through our passion, and that these ideas will make a meaningful impact in the future!

BEFORE INTERNATIONAL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE:

A lot has changed for our campaign in terms of growth and our plans for our next steps after taking the next step from the state level. We are currently working on implementing more of our initial ideas, and transforming our campaign to a community where people can feel more comfortable with their mental health journey, their body, and their relationships with others. Here are some of our successes, progresses and what we plan to do from there...

- We plan on turning Mind and Unwind into a club at our school ✅ 
This has been accomplished! Many people around our school have joined our cause, and we continue to promote events and educate individuals about how they can improve their mental health!

- We plan on hosting more fundraisers to donate to NAMI and many other similar organizations ✅ 
We already are off to a strong start with this next step! With our Active Minds fundraiser at Bruster's, we are furthering our reach to organizations with similar causes, and connecting each individual in our community to a positive extent!

- We plan to collaborate with our school’s chapter as Mind and Unwind, and Sources of Strength have similar goals. ⏳
This is still a tentative initiative because the established organization takes time to organize expansive events with! However, we are set to coordinate a mental health x physical wellness event in August and we hope that it can garner our student body's excitement to better their mental health during stressful times!

- Through our platform, we would also like to promote more self-affirmation to make a direct and positive impact on our community. We have ideas to create a cinematic film and short mental health vlogs that can easily be executed ✅
This was successful, as we were able to create not only a self-affirmation promotion, we created an app for users to feel more fulfilled with their progress on their mental health journey. We created a short film with clips of activities to promote protective factors, which had a positive reach on our social media platforms! We are currently working on creating individual vlogs, scheduled to release in late June!

- As our pickleball event was a huge success, we plan to hold more socials and promote physical wellness. We plan to host a yoga event soon and a more inclusive pickleball event ✅
Our yoga event was a success, as we were able to teach many about different meditation and mindfulness strategies. In addition, we held a local hiking event so that the benefits of nature can be emphasized within our promotion.

- We also plan to reach out to local hospitals to host events with them. We plan to make gifts to patients hoping to brighten their day. We hope our dedication to this project is clear through our passion, and that these ideas will make a meaningful impact in the future! ⏳
We are excited to take initiative on this event, and we are currently still waiting on the hospital coordinators' responses on our initiative. Once this is approved, we hope to execute our idea to help patients with their mental health journey!

NEW NEXT STEPS: 
On our timeline, we have an expansive plan to promote mental health in our community by encouraging individuals to take initiative! We have many ideas that we want to implement including:

- Teaching individuals how to use a sleep log (Will implement first week of June)
- Turning our club into a non-profit (so other schools and communities can Mind and Unwind as well!)
- Hand out resource guides to educate individuals about different fundraisers that mental health organizations initiate!
- Giving resources for individuals to learn more about dialectical behavior therapy

With the plethora of ideas that we have, we are excited to take this transformative spark to not only to better other people's mental health, but to inspire others to continue building relationships and to foster more branches of initiatives that work to the common goal of promoting mindful well-being!
